Carlisle Market Hall is one of the few remaining covered Victorian market halls left in the country. Inside are a range of vendors, including haberdasheries, grocers, florists and newsagents. The Market Hall also hosts a variety of food vendors providing simple takeaway meals from sweet treats to pizza. Furthermore, many of its vendors are family businesses.
Carlisle Market Hall is a piece of Victorian architecture, with high vaulted ceilings and large open spaces. It is directly connected to other large chain stores such as TK Maxx that share a home on the same premises. There is level access on Scotch Street and ramp access on West Tower Street. Street parking is available on neighbouring streets. Bus transport is available from West Tower Street. Alternatively, the bus station and Carlisle train station are a short walk away.
For more information, see here.
The whole Market Hall is level access and wheelchair accessible. Some vendors stalls contain a step up, but visitors can request a ramp to be laid to access the interior of stalls. Ramps grant access from West Tower Street but the entrance from Scotch Street is level access.
