The Half Moon Inn is the oldest pub in Darlington, dating back over 200 years though there is some historical speculation that its even older which would make it older than the Darlington Railway. They offer a full English breakfast alongside drinks like bottled beers, ales and ciders. Their location is on Northgate, directly in the centre of town and very close to both a bus stop and a car park. In September 2024, the Half Moon Inn nearly closed due to rising costs, however the Tees Valley Community Asset Preservation Trust stepped in to save the historic business by buying it, as a result making them the first pub in Darlington to be owned by a charity.
