McColl’s Brewery is a unit-based microbrewery with on-site taproom open to the public. It is located in the remote village of Evenwood, just round the corner from Bishop Auckland in County Durham.
Their microbrewery taproom is based in a unit in Evenwood Industrial Estate. Inside, it features a bar with draught beer on tap and fridges stocked with canned and bottled beers, gin, cider and low-alcohol beers, as well as soft drinks.
You can sit in the actual brewery, where they have several tables and chairs where you can drink and socialise, surrounded by stainless steel brewery vessels and equipment.
The brewery hosts as a tap room every other weekend on a Friday and Saturday. You can buy drinks to take home in cans/bottles, or you can order a pint at the bar and drink on the premises. The brewery has a different street food vendor every time the taproom is open.
The beer they produce is craft and real ale – from pale ale to stouts to IPAs. They also make cider and low-alcohol alternatives. Other drinks they sell include a select variety of gins brought in from gin distillers locally, as well as the usual soft drinks.
There are no steps or stairs (except for one step in front of the bar that has a metal plate on it as a ramp).
Furthermore, there is open space around the taproom and on site toilets.
The taproom can provide soft drinks and snacks for children and treats for dogs.
Free Parking is available right outside the unit.
Moreover, public transport is available nearby, with the taproom being just a brief walk from the nearest bus stop.
In addition, gluten-free and vegan-friendly drinks are available.
