Overview of Pink Lemon Hair

Pink Lemon Hair is a hairdressers in Medowfield in County Durham. Which is near the GP surgery/pharmacy down the road, a car dealership opposite and the CO-OP/Greggs up the road from the hairdresser. There are good bus links to the hairdressers as well.

The hairdressers manly focusses on vivid colors. They also do hair cuts, styles, wash and blow dryers and hair for special occasions. For example prom, wedding and birthdays to name a few.

Parking

Unfortunately, the parking is limited at the hairdressers, However, they are going to look at getting lines and designated parking spaces. But with the limited parking, it’s better to get there early in the morning so you can get parked.

What is the entrance like?

As you come to the front door there is a step to get inside the building. It is recommended that you have support, as the door can be quite hard to manage aswell.  Especially if you are supporting someone who’s got physical disabilities,  visual impairments or someone who has dementia. Furthermore, you would struggle to get a pushchair/wheelchair in.

What is the waiting area like at Pink Lemon Hair?

There are 2 options to choose from and they are:

• sitting on the couch.
• there is an option of sitting on a hard seat.

Feel free to have a read through the magazines that are on offer but put them back when you finished with them.

What is the reception area like at Pink Lemon Hair?

The staff on the reception desk are there to help, but if they aren’t at the desk when you arrive just sit down and they will be over when they are ready for you. The reception area is black and it has a variety of things on reception which includes:

·    Telephone

·    Apple Mac

·    Card machine

·    Appointment cards- which they will write your next appointment on for all clients but sometimes you have to ask for it.

The hairdresser’s experience itself

When the hairstylists come and get you  from reception they will more than  likely take your coat or jacket off you so it doesn’t get wet or even worse they get die on it by accident. Then they will usually gown you up so your clothes don’t get spoiled. Next, they will take you over to a seat where you can put your things down. Remember to take your glasses off here but don’t worry if you forget I always forget then get to the sink and they ask me to take them off and it just means that you have to keep hold of them. Whereas if you put it with the rest of your things it is easier that way.

What is the wash stations like?

Well there are 4 wash basins and if you have a physical disability then you need to use the 2 end ones. Due to the fact that there is no footstool there. Another thing about the wash basins to be aware of is the temperature is very temperamental but this shouldn’t be a problem if you communicate well with your hairstylist.

·    Pot noodles

There is a table in the middle of the salon which has colouring in books and coloured pencils. Furthermore you might want to think about bringing felt tips if you have hyper mobility issues because it’s harder to use pencils. You are more than welcome to bring your own if that’s easier for you. There is also some magazines that you can help yourself too to pass the time.

Toilets

There is no accessible toilet in the hairdressers. If you require an accessible toilet you will need to go into the doctors surgery at the end of the road. There is 2 toilets that has a toilet roll holder so no dispenser that you have to navigate. As well as this there is liquid soap and paper towel so again no soap dispenser, bars of soap or hand dryers to worry about. Although the locks can be difficult. Just ask a hair stylist and they would be happy to help you. The cubicals are small so you wouldn’t be able to fit a wheelchair in there or a support worker in there.
