Background

This taproom in Harrogate is one of the largest in the area. Roosters Brewery Co. was launched in 1993, and it has pioneered the rising popularity of new world beers with flavour and aroma. They have been able to make their beers stand out from the traditional real ale market successfully.

Since then, they have won awards at competitions both at home and overseas. Their ethos has always remained the same though – to consistently brew quality, easy-drinking and well-balanced beers in cask, keg and can. They are now famous for brewing pale ales but they also play around with other beer styles, experimenting with different flavours and aromas and striving to make the next beer that will change the world among craft ale drinkers.

The venue is located a few miles south of Harrogate, within the industrial estate of Hornbeam Business Park. Not far from the town and walking distance from the nearest train station, it is a large venue with plenty of seating space in the main hall, a bar to the left as you come in and a view of Rooster’s Brewery through a plate glass window. There are also more seating areas upstairs and a beer garden.

Events

The events held here include comedy performers once every month in the sample room which is upstairs at this venue. Each comedy event typically involves three comedians local to the area, all hand-picked by the venue.

Women On Tap is also another event that takes place once a year and it essentially promotes equality in women, helping redesign the beer industry to encourage women to feel welcome and safe in it as the beer industry is currently male-dominated. The event features speakers by activists, leaders, researchers and experts in the beer industry. If you’re interested in this, then click here to see if it’s on!

Other entertainment includes live music including the Harrogate Folk Club and other local musicians. Some of the live music takes place on a stage outside in their beer garden area as well as in the sample room.

Every week, they have a quiz night where people can play for the chance to win a taproom voucher of ÂŁ20. The format of the quiz changes periodically to keep it fresh and alternative. They also award the “funniest team of the week” every week, and the losing team gets the Pint of Shame!

People can also book tasting sessions. This involves everyone having a third-pint sample of up to 8 different beers. Groups of up to 8 people can book a session.
