The Dunes Cafe

The Dunes Cafe Location

The Dunes Cafe is a small but elegant and airy cafe situated on the cliffside high above Crimdon Beach. It is located next to a couple of caravan parks with £1 an hour/£3 all day parking and disabled spots out front. The access path to the beach is steep and not wheelchair accessible. Due to the cliff location, it would be quite difficult to adapt.

Inside The Cafe

The cafe’s spacious interior is filled with light, with several floor-to-ceiling scenic windows and panoramic views of the sea. Lighting is generous and accompanied by acoustic soundboards which reduce the cafe’s echo by adsorbing sound. The yellow walls are adorned with the cafe’s menu, photos, decorations, and a hatch to order your refreshments. There is seating outside in the form of picnic benches.

Food & Drink at The Dunes Cafe

There are various drinks (both hot and cold) available to order, as well as cold sandwiches, crisps and sweet treats. For hot food, you can get yourself a jacket potato or hot/toasted sandwich to munch on. Vegan cheese, dairy free milk and a calorie chart are all available, and they are able to check for allergies/intolerances. There’s also refreshments for dogs and a small range of dog/outdoor items to buy.

The Toilets

There is a Changing Places accessible toilet/wet room next to the front entrance that you need to ask the staff to gain access to. It is very large, with low and high coathangers, a hoist, a full adult flatbed with height adjustment, a full shower, a low level large sink with grips and plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair. The standard toilet has a decent waiting area, a baby changing room with facilities and two fairly roomy toilet rooms with hygienic handles, sinks, hand dryers and wheelchair grips.
