The Forum Music Centre is a venue with locations around the country however this will be about their Darlington location. This music centre is a non-for-profit community-based venue that has gigs and performances. They also have activities such as a bar, rehearsal rooms, and educational courses. They have recently been awarded a capital investment of £404,000 to renew, extend and repair the facility. This will include a state-of-the-art recording studio, a new welcome entrance, solar panels and an extension to the galley kitchen.
The forum was awarded bronze on Attitude is everything’s charter of best practice for accessibility. There are three exits from the performance area. One leads directly to the bar, the other to the car park, and the third is a fire exit leading directly outside. Most of the concerts are standing however you can call in advance if you require seating or wheelchair space. Also, be aware that strobe lighting may be used in some performances. They also offer personal assistance tickets, they are of no cost for deaf or disabled customers. However keep in mind that there are usually a limited number of these tickets and that because they work with 3rd party promoters, they aren’t available for every event so it is best to ring and find out.
The Forum is only 0.2 miles away from Darlington train station, and about the same distance from bus stops in the town centre. There is also a free small car park to the rear of the building. There are also 2 accessible parking bays that lead directly to the rear doors, it is advised to call in advance if you require it.
