The Grand Opera House

At first, there were two separate buildings in York; a corn exchange and an adjoining warehouse. These combined to make The Grand Opera House on 20th January 1902. The theatre puts on a varying range of musicals, plays, concerts, comedy and more. As well as this, it boasts many bars to provide patrons with drinks, in addition to being able to host weddings. Not only that, but they also periodically offer workshops for various theatre skills.

Accessibility at The Grand Opera House

The theatre uses ATG Tickets as its booking agent, enabling carers to book free companion tickets through their access membership scheme. They also hold regular performances utilising captions, audio description, relaxed atmosphere and BSL signing. Assistance dogs are welcome and there are wheelchair spaces. Within the theatre are areas that can only be accessed via steps; there are no lifts. There is no parking outside the theatre.
